Coastal Table and Tales
Teens taste their way through Mexico with three hands-on street food stations. Sunday, Nov 1 at Coastal Table & Tales.
Overview
What if you could take a street food crawl through Mexico without leaving the bookstore?
Teens will travel through three hands-on antojito stations, making and tasting:
- Esquites: Mexican street corn in a cup
- Tacos de Canasta: traditional steamed “basket tacos”
- Vaso de Fruta: mango, jícama, cucumber, and carrot with lime, Tajín, and chamoy
This workshop is for curious teens who like trying new things. Come ready to taste something unfamiliar, play with flavors, and ask questions. Food can be an easy way into another culture.
Your instructor is Elisa Varela Sanwick, founder of The Trailing Apron. As a diplomatic spouse she has cooked and taught around the world, most recently in Amman, Jordan, where she spent three years teaching Mexican cuisine to an international audience.
